Patricia Álvarez Fernández

Patricia graduated from the University of Santiago de Compestela in Spain in 2014. After graduating, she completed a five-month collaboration with the neuropathology department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, before going on to complete a rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the teaching hospital of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) in 2016. She also completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery whilst here.

Following completion of her internship, Patricia spent a year working at Balmesvet (Barcelona, Spain) - a small animal mixed referral and first opinion practice before joining Pride Veterinary Referrals on a small animal rotating internship in 2017. She completed her residency in veterinary neurology and gained the European Diploma in Veterinary Neurology in 2022.

Her areas of clinical interest lie in cytopathology of the central nervous system, neurodegenerative diseases, inflammatory conditions of the central nervous system and neuromuscular disorders.

Outside of work Patricia loves to travel and spending time with her family. When she goes home, she enjoys playing with her young nephew and walking her dog Luna (a Tibetan Spaniel cross), who she has owned since she was 10 years old!
